Vnesheconombank invited spokesmen of G-20 Y Summit International Organizing Committee to take part in the international conference «Modernization in Russia: The role of development institutions», which was held on the eighth of December 2009 in Moscow and was devoted to the anniversary of Vnesheconombank.The membership of the conference was very pleasant: Thomas Mirow - President of European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, Christof Ruehl - Chief Economist of BP Group, Claudio Cortese – Director of Europe’s Neighbour and Partner Contries Department of European Investment Bank , Rafael Oliva – Advisor to the President of Brazilian Development Bank, Gao Jian – Vice-President of China Development Bank, Bijan R. Kian – Member of the Board of Directors of Export-Import Bank of United States, Jean Charest – Prime Minister of Quebec (Canada), Arkady Dvorkovitch - Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, Alexey Kudrin - Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Igor Shuvalov - Deputy Chairman Government of the Russian Federation.
Chairman of Vnesheconombank Vladimir Dmitriev inaugurated the conference.
V. Dmitriev said: It is very important to intensify the coordination of those institutes of development, which Russian Federation is taking part in. It concerns European Bank of Reconstruction and Development, Inter-American Bank of Development, Eurasian Bank of Development and Trade. Vnesheconombank wants to be an instrument, which will coordinate this activity and focus this activity on development of Russia after the crisis.
Thomas Mirow, president of European Bank of Reconstruction and Development greeted members of the conference as well. Thomas Mirow said, that cooperation between European Bank of Development and Reconstruction and Vnesheconombank could be more intensive on basis of supporting small and an medium enterprises. He added that modernization of Russian economy was one of the most important element. He added, that dynamic development of private sector had a strong influence. Thomas Mirow said: We must create such conditions which will favor the development of entrepreneurship in Russia. It is very important to be concentrated on the cooperation in order to reach it. We would like to state that we are ready to cooperate on basis of such approach.
Afterwards Arkady Dvorkovitch - Aide to the President of the Russian Federation took the floor. He opened the first session of the conference «Potential of modernization: long-term development of economy.»
The Alexey Kudrins report was the crucial report of the session. Alexey Kudrin is Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation. 
Alexey Kudrin said that enterprises wanted to improve productivity and reduce costs.He added that not every enterprise waa making progress.
Kudrin said: Market is being reduced, there are not a lot of places on the market. It will be difficult for some enterprises to overcome obstacles in the nearest two years. We must await problems with balances of both banks and enterprises.
Christof Ruehl - Chief Economist of BP Group and Alan Piju, director European Bank of Reconstruction and Development took the floor as well. The theme of the second session was long-term investments. Jean Charest - Prime Minister of Quebec (Canada) took the floor as well.
Igor Shuvalov - Deputy Chairman Government of the Russian Federation made a statement: «Everything starts in a small way. Small power engineering, the system of public service are very important. It is necessary to create institutes of development in order to solve these problems».
Gao Jian - Vice-President of China Development bank a report as well.
Ksenia Khoruzhnikova, chair of the International Organizational Committee G-20Y Summit and German Gorshkov, Head of PR Department of the International Organizational Committee G-20Y Summit visited the conference.
