06.01.2010 : The World Bank officially supports the initiative of the G-20Y Summit
   

  On December 6th 2009 the International Organizing Committee of the G-20Y Summit (IOC) has received an official letter of support of the initiative of the G-20Y Summit from Julian Schweitzer, the Acting Vice President of Human Development Network of the World Bank (http://www.worldbank.org/). “The World Bank is committed to the development of young people, and in collaboration with governments and civil society organizations around the world, we are working to ensure that young people have the skills they need and the opportunities they deserve,” wrote Mr Schweitzer in his letter of support. Mr Schweitzer suggested a member of The World Bank Institute to be an expert of the G-20Y Summit and to collaborate with the IOC on the issue of agenda setting. World Bank Institute engages directly with civil society, including with youth groups, bringing them into the realm of collaborative and consultative policymaking around the world.Mr Schweitzer also thanked the IOC for its“work to bring together young leaders from around the world, to foster global communication and cooperation.”
